See you at Place des Victoires

Maison&Objet In the City - 23-28 Mar. 2022 - Place des Victoires

Between the first and second arrondissements of Paris, there is no shortage of beautiful signatures to testify about the vitality of French creation.

The Place des Victoires is one of the five royal squares of Paris. Dedicated to Louis XIV, its surroundings are full of architectural gems that give the capital its charm. For example, people should visit the Vérot-Dodat gallery lined with shops dating from the 19th century. It is here that the decorator Pierre Gonalons has established himself. For In The City, he presents Excelsior, an exceptional collection of furniture and marble objects, made with the Italian marble maker Up&Up, a mythical company known for having edited Ettore Sottsass and Enzo Mari. Inspired by the Florentine Renaissance, the new creations take up the multi-coloured motifs of the torso columns and mooring pillars of Venice. The name of the collection refers to the Excelsior, the palace on the Lido, the ideal setting for the elegant fantasy of La Dolce-Vita. Further on, in the rue du Mail, is the Erard Room, an 18th century setting that served as the headquarters of a piano, harp and harpsichord maker. The walls still resonate with the notes of Erik Satie and Frédéric Chopin. Hamilton Conte exhibits his furniture collections, whose design is inspired by Streamline Moderne. Sofas and upholstered armchairs with curved lines, tables and furniture made from art foundries, the whole collection is adaptable to the specifications of decorators. Still on Rue du Mail, Toulemonde-Bochart, Master of designer rugs, presents a new collection of outdoor rugs with original effects. Far from dry mats, which are the only ones allowed to spend the night outside, Toulemonde-Bochart offers very soft flat carpets with a velvet effect, which can withstand the assaults of the sun and bad weather.  And always with the design touch that is the house's signature.

This spring in Paris, outdoor furniture is in the spotlight. Maison de Vacances is presenting its first outdoor collection on rue de Cléry, which required two years of research and development. Its Gypset garden sofas are a perfect match for its indoor collection: comfort, colour and softness. However, they have been given a light and resistant structure that allows them to be stored or moved easily by separating them into modules. The fabric has undergone rigorous technical adjustments to ensure that the material is as soft as possible and that all the colours match the indoor collection, with stonewash effects, which are very difficult to maintain under the constraints of the weather and the sun.  You can now enjoy the boho-chic style of Maison de Vacances by the pool or on the balcony of your mountain chalet.

On Place des Victoires, Maison Sarah Lavoine also has a sunny disposition. The famous decorator offers a small outdoor collection of deckchairs and stools matching the stripes that have made her a success. At the time of the big summer tables, she proposes new Soleil plates, and colours her Esquisse collection with saffron or pistachio. Another designer in love with the sun, Bérengère Leroy creates her sofas in Saint-Rémy de Provence. In her showroom in the rue Etienne Marcel, you will discover a new outdoor collection, all models of which can be made to measure. The inspiration is a summer stroll from Biarritz to the Cyclades, from Paris to Saint-Rémy, mixing sophisticated couture influences with natural and soft materials ideal for summer.

A stone's throw away, Made.com offers for the second time a collaboration with the Emmaüs Alternatives workshops. Emmaüs is a very famous French community that helps the homeless. Their workshop Les Résilientes designs furniture made from recycled materials. Made.com has made available to them out-of-date or unsold light fittings, which they have transformed into seats. To meet the artisans, meet them on Saturday 26 March at 4pm, for a conference in partnership with the podcast Où est le beau? which will be followed by a vernissage from 5pm to 8pm.
